I have a special attachment to this pieces because of the way I which it evolved. It began as a landscape but then sat for the good part of a year while I kept seeing the torso of a woman on the canvas. It was one of those times when the painting really does tell you what it wants.
The facial expression and the shawl wrapped around her lead to the title. We are all “Wrapped In Memories”.

Living on the West Coast one experiences rainy, grey winters that go on for several months. One of the first flowers to appear in March and April, is the Hyacinths. They cast an array of colour and wonderful fragrance through our world.
12” x 12” Acrylic on Canvas
The gift of colour, in summer, is very compelling and demands to be captured in a painting. The Star Gazer Lilies are ne exception. Each flower is unique and it was great fun attempting to interpret all the variations of fuchsia and purple.

The inspiration for this painting was the contemplation of what the bees encounter when they venture into the centre of the flower. I expect that what they see is significantly more complex than the creamy/pink, almost not there colour, that attracts us.

The rose is considered a symbol of balance. The beauty of how the petals envelope each other is different in every one but always in balance. This fact makes painting them a new challenge each time.

My focus, at the moment, is capturing the image and spectrum of emotion that is conveyed by light hitting bodies of water. This is the first of the large paintings and I am pleased with the somewhat abstract quality of the work.
